Healthy Small Bites for Snacking

Hi all,

Most of the items on offering for usual snacking, as well as know, are not great for ones health.  Chips, candy, even most granola bars which, though claim to be healthy, are loaded with sugar and carbs.

Here is a list of snacks you can feel good about reaching for, which dont hit your health with the damage that most of the others out there do:

The chocolate on these crunchy almonds is surprisingly delicious.  Rich, decadent, though a healthy snack for nibbling on.  So yum.

These bars are my favorite to date.  They are chewy, oatey, and gluten free.  The triple berry flavor is also delish.

This stuff is AMAZING with Greek yogurt.  I cant get enough.

Like Goldfish or Cheezits, but without the grain/gluten/wheat!

Foragingly Festive Mushroom Cheese Bake

Hi all!  Happy winter, eh? 😀

In the taking advantage of a recent grocery shopping mishap on my end (accidently getting maitake mushrooms instead of cremini- I know, I know, how does one make such a mistake?), I decided on whipping up something healthy, loaded with veggies, but with a touch of comfort foodie goodness to it.  With the weather having made a nosedive up here in New Hampshire, in terms of the brisk factor, it seemed a fitting entrée for the frigid air outside.

This one is gluten/grain free and sugar free, though it does have some dairy with the addition of the cheese.  If you wish, use dairy free cheese instead and you’ll have a delectable, healthy vegan side dish.

Paleo Chocolate Frosting

Hi all,

Here’s a delicious, healthy ish frosting recipe.  Ideal for cupcakes (especially on these moist, fudgy Paleo ones), cakes, you name it.  I was stunned this is a mostly Paleo recipe.  Yet it tastes creamy, sugary, thick, like a real deal version of chocolate frosting.  Enjoy!  This might become your new go-to 😉

Superfood Pesto Sauce

Recipe #100!!  This ones a sauce, and a damn good one at that.  As long as you have a food processor (you can get a great quality one for just $40 on Amazon.com, and you’ll use it all the time once you have it.  Totally worthwhile purchase), this recipe is finished in mere minutes.

Made with just kale, basil, parmesan cheese, olive oil, cashews and garlic.  Man oh man, I could eat a jar of this weekly.  I basically already do (the store bought kind.  Pesto being close to my heart for years now).  This kind though?  Light-years better.  With a subtle bite from the garlic.  Earthy flavor from the basil and kale.  The parmesan offering the perfect pinch of zest.

Kale, by the way, is awesome for you.  Its high in fiber, great for aiding in digestion, its loaded with nutrients, vitamins, folate and magnesium.  For a short list of additional health benefits, click on this article.

Raspberry Chia Jam

Jam is just the best on so many things.  Delicious on all manner of bread and cakes.  Its especially tasty on chocolate desserts.  This raspberry jam pairs perfectly with my chocolate zucchini cake/brownies.  The best part of this jam?  Its sugar-free, not like the store bought ones which are laden with it.  This one is light, sweet and lovely.

Chocolate Avocado Frosting

Ready for a frosting made with good-for-you ingredients and zero sugar?  Yet, it tastes like a typical creamy, rich, sweet frosting.  Delicious.  This could also be eaten as is, instead of used to top a cake.  A makeshift chocolate pudding, if you will.  Either way, totally yummy.

Here you go:
